Arsenic Project 2001
Arsenic Project
Despite such a stalemate, Mrs. Nasrin Karim organized various domestic and international seminars in 2001 to make the public aware of the terrible arsenic problem in Bangladesh, which were published in various newspapers. In addition, Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA, distributed about 1,000 filters through filter technology in various areas, including Kachua in Comilla, Debpur in Hajiganj, Subidpur, Pallibidyut, Raipur in Noakhali, and Companyganj in Sylhet, ensuring the supply of arsenic-free, safe water. During the distribution of filters, the then government's Honorable Deputy Leader of Parliament, Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, and Honorable Minister Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir were present. In addition, a clinic was opened in her own building in the Daroga Baris area in Comilla city to see arsenicosis patients. Arrangements were also made to bring specialist doctors from Dhaka to see patients every month.
